The alarm blared to life at 5:00 AM, piercing the darkness of the room. A nineteen year old girl groggily opened her eyes, rubbing the sleep from her eyelids. She yawned, stretching her petite frame and arching her back in a languid cat-stretch.

Her long, curly brown hair spilled over her pillow like a waterfall. As she sat up, the early morning chill in the air made her shiver. She tossed off her covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed, her feet dangling in the air.
